Western Business Education Association (WBEA)

As the school year comes to an end, let us recognize that we are doing a great job for the future of our students and each other. Think about what you have done to enhance business education and encourage educators throughout this past school year. While you do that, let me tell you about three recently departed educators who are admired for their contributions to business education, students, and fellow educators. They are Mike Fujita from Hawai’i, Helen Humbert from Washington, and Wanda Blockhus from California.

Mike taught accounting and was a respected leader in WBEA; Helen loved to laugh and kept WBEA well informed on legislative issues; and Wanda was a Gregg Award recipient and created challenging quizzes about international travel for ISBE. Visit their Guest Books online for other accomplishments and requests. Let us remember them (and others) by making donations to WBEA Professional Improvement Scholarship Fund. This month’s HIGH FIVE goes to Kay Ono, Eileen Wascisin, and Pauline Newton for being close to those educators that are listed above. Kay, Eileen, and Pauline can’t help but smile when they recall those wonderful memories of their colleagues from past conferences and educational events.

As you end the semester encouraging students toward success and recognizing the value of your colleagues, take time to share the memories of your achievements with those you love.
